Chris Young Answers

I asked Chris Young how he got into BMX design.
His answer makes me realize how small the world is.
People know people.
I guess I know people.

"Hey Craig,

Thanks for getting in touch… Oddly enough, my getting into BMX design started when I met Rob Thring, another BMX rider that went to Conestoga College in the design program. Mike will know Rob, he was a few years ahead of me, but he used to work for Ron Wilkerson doing the design for the 2-Hip contest series, and he’s the one that brought the 2-Hip to Waterloo back in 1989. This is the contest where Mat Hoffman pulled the first 900. That happened there.

Anyway, I’ve been riding forever, and I’ve known Jay Miron since my teenage years, so back when Jay started Chase BMX Magazine, I joined in and started helping design at Issue 5, because Ten Pack was getting super busy, and MacNeil was just about to become public knowledge and we knew it was going to blow up and be huge.

I’ve got to run off to get to the studio… Busy day ahead. I’ll have to continue on my story later.

Say hey back to Mike…
