I recently viewed a video showing an astronaut dropping a hammer and a feather at the same time on the moon. When I watched it, I was fully aware of the physics involved, and still the video seemed unnatural, or unEarthly.
I find it strange that Galileo was making these findings back in the late 1500's.
Not strange, more impressive and intriguing that he was able to make those deductions without the aid of technology.
It is similar to typography in a way. I find it so impressive that typographers were able to create an intricate systems of visuals that are to this day, still used for their proven reliability. Without technology, I can't imagine attempting to design a typeface.
I thoroughly enjoyed creating my feathered Galileo portrait.
Original Galileo painting by Justin Sustermans.
I wonder if Galileo ever tried to design a typeface.
